Sitting high above Villeneuve in the Aosta Valley in Italy is the Châtel-Argent. The castle is now a ruin dating from the 13th century, it's name being derived from the fact that the site originally housed in it's interior a mint.
Just to the right of the castle keep the apse of a church dating from around 1050-1070 can be seen. The church which is constructed in a Romanesque style is dedicated to Sainte Colombe, who, ironically enough was beheaded by the Romans on the orders of the emperor Aurelian. File 2921.
